The "31" Story

Rev Brian WanglerThe daily devotional “God Time: Your First 31 Days” is a result of the old phrase, “Necessity is the mother of invention.” Ottawa First had grown rapidly over a relatively short period of time, and we were discipling many new believers. We wanted to introduce them as quickly as possible to the idea they can have God moments outside of corporate worship or small groups, when they engage their Bible in personal devotions. It was our conviction that if they learned how to spend time with God, it would enrich their corporate worship time and help them to grow spiritually. We also wanted to introduce them to biblical and theological themes they would spend the rest of their life exploring. We self-published the devotional, and gave this along with a Bible, to each new believer in Christ.

Rev. Brian Wangler Bio

For the last 12 years, Brian Wangler has been blessed to serve as lead pastor at Ottawa First Church of the Nazarene. OFC is an amazing church whose commitment and sacrifice to others has made it possible for the worship attendance to grow from 240 to more than 900. During this time, hundreds of people have made first-time commitments to Christ. OFC launched their first multi-site video campus in 2010, and has invested in churches through restarts and church plants in Northwest Illinois.

Brian has authored a devotional for new believers called, “God Time: Your First 31 Days.” This daily devotional is currently being offered by Adult Ministries International at discipleshipplace.org.

He and his wife Lindy reside in Ottawa, Illinois, and will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary this year. He loves spending time with his family: Nick and his wife Katie, Nathan, and Natalie.
